The Headquarters location of the Monmouth County Library established the Monmouth County Historical Room in 1998 to serve the needs of its patronage by collecting and preserving written materials documenting and illuminating many aspects of life in New Jersey with emphasis on Monmouth County.
The Monmouth County Historical Room collection contains a variety of materials about state, county, and local history including books, magazines, directories, scrapbooks, and various other materials. More than 1400 items comprise the collection. Patrons can research current and historical information pertaining to Monmouth County and New Jersey including businesses, institutions, buildings, agriculture, economics, government documents, biographical and genealogical information and much, much more. The room also contains a case exhibit arranged by Monmouth County Archives featuring documents of interest pertaining to the history of New Jersey.
